Under the Cover was an exhibition of contemporary bindings, artists' books and textiles that shows there are many ways to bind a book and there is an intriguing world of secrecy, shame, beauty and desire to be found under the cover — be it the book cover, the quilt cover, or the cover of darkness. Bookbinding Exhibitions Australia Inc was a national organisation dedicated to promoting bookbinding as an art form. Between 2003 and 2008 BEA organised eleven exhibitions of contemporary binding, artists books and significant historical bindings.
